‘Friends’ actors Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry are more than just FRIENDS: Report

Ahead of the Friends reunion, a report from MyHeritage.com claims that Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry, who portrayed friends turned couple Monica Gellar and Chandler Bing on the series, are actually cousins!

According to the details, Genealogy website MyHeritage revealed the co-stars are 11th cousins, sharing relatives William Osbern Haskell III and Ellen Haskell. The pair married in England before she immigrated to the United States (US) in 1635 with her two sons, Roger and William.

“We went into this line very deeply, we checked every name. We found a lot of records that support it, and we have confidence that they are related,” Roi Mandel, the head of research at MyHeritage, told the cable network.

Researchers said the friends and family connection is less shocking than a sitcom plot twist.

“This is not such a surprise. It makes sense that when you go so many generations back, the chances of people being connected are higher,” Mandel reportedly said.

The family tree also has another famous branch; researchers found that the distant cousins are also faintly related to Lady Gaga, though didn’t give details on how. To find the connection, the company used various databases containing billions of historical records, including birth and death certificates.

The Friends cast have reunited for a one-off special program, set to air on HBO Max on Thursday (yesterday). Cox told Good Morning America this week that the experience of being back on the show’s old set “was so emotional that we just started crying.”
