Coleen Rooney ‘Got One in My Ear’ After Critter Crawled into Her Ear During I’m A Celebrity Challenge

Coleen Rooney had an unexpected run-in with nature during her time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, leaving her needing medical assistance after a critter got stuck in her ear. The 38-year-old star was participating in the Arcade of Agony challenge on Wednesday night’s episode of the ITV show, where she had to brave a box filled with fish guts to retrieve coins needed to operate a grabbing machine. Inside the machine were balls with hidden tickets that would help secure immunity from the next public vote and possibly a spot on the infamous Celebrity Cyclone trial.

While participating in the task, Coleen was faced with the usual jungle horrors, but it was what happened at the end of the trial that took everyone by surprise. As she emerged from the booth, she said: “I’ve got one in my ear.” A medic quickly rushed to her side, using a syringe to help the critter crawl out of her ear. Co-host Ant McPartlin couldn’t hide his shock, exclaiming: “Oh my god, it just jumped out”, according to The Metro.

This isn’t the first time I’m A Celebrity has required medical intervention during a jungle trial. In 2022, England footballer Jill Scott needed assistance after a cockroach became lodged in her ear during an Unlucky Dip challenge. Eleven years prior, Olympic gold medallist Fatima Whitbread also experienced an insect-related mishap when a cockroach got stuck up her nose during a trial involving critters inside a plastic helmet.

Before entering the jungle, Coleen had been in the headlines for her high-profile libel case against fellow footballer’s wife Rebekah Vardy. Reported by Hello! Magazine, that the court case, which became known as the “Wagatha Christie” saga, saw Coleen accuse Rebekah, wife of Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, of leaking her private information to the press. The case culminated in July 2022, when a judge ruled that Coleen’s viral post accusing Rebekah was “substantially true.”

Reflecting on her decision to join I’m A Celebrity, Coleen explained, “It has been year after year I have been asked to go on a programme, and it’s always been a straight ‘no’. Over the years, there have been different things going on in my life and also, my children have been really young. But they are at an age now where I can go away for this length of time.”

She continued, “I also feel it’s time to have a challenge for me and do something different. It has taken many, many years but I’m finally doing it. And I have always said, if I was going to do one – then it would be this show. I think it will be good for me.”
