Coleen Nolan Describes Beloved Sister Linda’s Funeral as Beautiful Send-Off Amid Heartbreak

In an emotional tribute that has touched the hearts of many, Coleen Nolan, renowned presenter on Loose Women and celebrated singer, paid a moving homage to her late sister Linda at her funeral in Blackpool. Linda, a Mirror columnist and member of the iconic Nolans pop group of the 70s, lost her long battle with cancer on January 15 at the age of 65. Her passing has left an indelible void in the family and among her many admirers.

Speaking on social media, Coleen, 59, reflected on the day with a blend of sorrow and gratitude for the moments they had shared. “Yesterday, we said a heartbreaking goodbye to my sister Linda for the last time, and it was a truly beautiful send-off.” Her words resonated deeply with fans and family alike, who have been mourning the loss of a vibrant personality known for lighting up every room she entered.

Adding to the emotional recollections, Coleen shared another cherished memory with her followers. “A couple of weeks ago, I came across an unreleased recording of Linda singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow and I wanted to share it with you all alongside some cherished old photos and videos”, reported by the Manchester Evening News. The unreleased recording, a rare gem that captures Linda’s soulful voice, has since been widely shared, serving as a poignant reminder of the talent and spirit that once graced the stage and television screens.

The service, held at a local Blackpool church, was attended by a host of notable figures from the entertainment world. Among the mourners were Coleen’s ex-husband Shane Richie, media personality Charlotte Dawson, singer Lisa Maffia, and comedian Tommy Cannon. A striking symbol of Linda’s vibrant life was her pink, sparkly coffin, which was carried into the church by Coleen’s own sons, Shane and Jake. Their respectful tribute underscored the deep familial bonds that remain despite the tragedy.

Linda’s sister, Denise Nolan-Anderson, 72, paid heartfelt tribute during the ceremony. “She really loved going to premieres and opening nights, having her beautiful hair and make-up done, and always was the life and soul of any big occasion. She would have loved all the fuss today.” Denise also lauded Linda’s courage and resilience throughout her prolonged fight against cancer. “It’s time to rest now, Linda. The battle is over, you are free.”

Other sisters, Anne, 74, and Maureen, 70, were also present at the service, visibly moved and united in their grief. Adorned in pink breast cancer brooches and earrings, their presence symbolized solidarity and remembrance of a sister who had once been at the heart of The Nolans, a group that brought joy and music to millions.

Linda’s life, marked by her vibrant personality and relentless fight against adversity, continues to inspire those who knew her. Her legacy, both as a performer and a loving family member, will forever remain a cherished memory for her loved ones and fans worldwide.
