Inside BBC Star Christina Trevanion’s Dramatic Life: Co-Star Husband and Heartbreaking Loss

Christina Trevanion, known for her work on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, has returned to The Travelling Auctioneers for its third season, much to the delight of fans. The 43-year-old auctioneer once again takes viewers behind the scenes of the challenging world of auctioneers and restorers, showcasing her expertise.

Born in June 1981, Christina developed a passion for antiques at a young age, thanks to her parents, Hazel and David. She would often pester them to watch auctions conducted by a family friend, according to reports from the Mirror. After studying Fine Art Valuation at Southampton Solent University, she landed a job at Christie’s, one of the most prestigious auction houses in London.

Christina’s television debut came in 2013 when a BBC producer spotted her skills as a valuer and researcher on Flog It!, and since then, she has appeared on popular shows like Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt. During her university years, Christina met her husband and future business partner, Aaron Dean. The couple married on New Year’s Eve in 2010 and went on to establish their own auction business, Trevanion and Dean, based in Whitchurch, Shropshire, reported by the Daily Record.

In 2019, Christina took full control of the business when Aaron moved to a new role as a national manager at Adam Partridge Auctioneers and Valuers. While the reasons behind their professional split remain private, the couple, who have two daughters, have described their family life as “pretty noisy, hectic and good fun.”

Christina’s personal life has not been without heartache. In 2013, she was devastated by the death of her father, David, who passed away from cancer. She became outspoken about cancer treatment after seeing the struggles of those around her. In 2018, she tweeted about the poor cancer waiting times, sharing her frustration: “My grandfather died from cancer. My father died from cancer. I have two close friends both currently suffering with cancer.”

In February 2024, Christina caused concern among fans when she shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed following an “unexpected” stay. She captioned the image: “An unexpected hospital stay meant an unusual opportunity to catch up on some good reading. Safe to say I was not a patient patient… but thanks to the TLC of some incredible nurses, I am now back in fine fettle.”

Christina’s emotional side was also revealed during a Bargain Hunt episode, where she discussed her great-grandfather’s military medals. She explained, “He’s a bit of a family hero,” and shared how he was posthumously honored with the Distinguished Service Order and the Legion D’Honneur. She tearfully recalled how her great-grandfather was killed in action during World War I, leaving behind a loving family. Christina also revealed her grandmother, his daughter, lived to the age of 109.

Fans continue to admire Christina for her personal strength, her deep family ties, and her passion for antiques.
