“She’s Been Nothing but Lovely”: Chris McCausland Reacts to Toyah Wilcox’s ‘Dig’ on It Takes Two

Chris McCausland surprised It Takes Two host Janette Manrara with his reaction to Toyah Wilcox’s lighthearted comment after her elimination on Strictly Come Dancing. Following her exit on Sunday night, Toyah was interviewed by Fleur East, who asked if she had any advice for other celebrities still in the competition. Toyah laughed and joked, “If you don’t want to do a dance-off, get rid of Chris!”

The comment prompted an awkward moment as Neil and Fleur exchanged glances before Toyah clarified with a laugh, “You’re all going to have to face a dance-off.” Neil then added, “I think she has chosen her winner already,” to explain Toyah’s playful remark, told The Mirror.

When Chris and his dance partner, Dianne, joined Janette in the It Takes Two studio on Thursday, Janette was quick to bring up Toyah’s comment. “I wanted to clear up some confusion because on Monday, Toyah said you were the one to beat, but some people misunderstood what she said. I just want to check—you and Toyah are all good, right?” she asked.

Chris’s response left Janette momentarily stunned, not because of any conflict, but because he admitted he hadn’t watched It Takes Two. “We’re all good! I had to be told about it because I didn’t watch. I think the last thing I need is more Strictly stuff,” he explained with a laugh. “She’s been nothing but lovely. She genuinely said to me when she went out, and we all cuddled on the dancefloor. She’s lovely. Her intention is gorgeous. She’s insane for thinking that, let’s not let her off with that. It’s madness.”

Earlier in the week, Chris took to social media to defend Toyah’s comment, making it clear there was no animosity. “All I can say is that @toyahofficial has been nothing but beautiful and supportive, and what she said on It Takes Two was funny and an incredible bloody compliment. It’s been such a joy and a privilege, Toyah. Lots of love, enjoy the surfing! X,” he wrote on Twitter.

Toyah also addressed the situation on her social media, reinforcing her support for Chris. “Just to clarify and to clear up any confusion that’s flying around, my good friend @chrismccausland is my favourite to win this year. I think he is inspiring and brilliant, he has worked so hard, and I wish him nothing but love! Toyah x,” she posted.

The two stars made it clear that there were no hard feelings, with Chris and Toyah both expressing their admiration and support for one another amidst the playful exchange.
