Shocking CCTV Captures Dun Laoghaire Assault as Woman Narrowly Avoids Bus Tragedy

This is the shocking image of what unfolded during an alleged assault in Dun Laoghaire last weekend, where a woman came within inches of a catastrophic accident involving a bus.

CCTV footage, widely circulated on social media, shows a dramatic altercation involving a man and a woman wrestling with a third man on the pavement of Lower George’s Street in Dun Laoghaire. The incident occurred at approximately 8 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024, as reported by the Irish Mirror.

The 61-second video captures what appears to be a couple struggling with a man wearing a black hat, according to Dublin Live. As the altercation escalates, the man in the hat grapples with the other man while the woman attempts to intervene. During the scuffle, both the woman and the man in the hat lose their balance and tumble onto the road.

In a chilling moment, the woman collides with the side of a passing bus, narrowly avoiding being run over. The bus continues out of frame, while the woman is left lying injured at the side of the road. The video shows a bystander stepping in to restrain the man in the hat, while the other man rushes to assist the injured woman.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying: “Gardaí attended the scene and are investigating following a report of an incident of alleged assault on Lower George’s Street, Dun Laoghaire, on Saturday 7th December 2024.”

They continued: “The incident occurred at approximately 8pm. A woman (aged in her 50s) was conveyed to St Vincent’s University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.”

The spokesperson added: “Investigations are ongoing. No further information is available at this time.”

The shocking nature of the footage has drawn widespread attention online, with viewers expressing disbelief at how close the woman came to serious harm. The video highlights both the dangers of escalating confrontations and the quick response of bystanders who intervened to prevent further harm.

As Gardaí continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, the public is reminded to exercise caution and report any information that could assist with the case. The woman is expected to recover from her injuries, but the harrowing footage serves as a stark reminder of how quickly situations can spiral into near-tragedy.
