Cat Deeley’s Four-Word Remark About Death on This Morning Leaves Viewers Outraged

Things took an awkward turn on Monday’s This Morning when Cat Deeley made a rather unusual remark to her co-host Gyles Brandreth. During the ITV show, Ben Shephard informed viewers that Gyles was feeling a bit sleep-deprived after returning from America on Sunday.

As Gyles shared that he had performed onstage shortly after landing in the UK, he remarked, “It teaches me that maybe you only need two or three hours sleep after all.” Vanessa Feltz and Ben pointed out that sleep deprivation would eventually catch up with him, to which Cat made the jarring comment: “He’ll sleep when he’s dead”, reported by Wales Online.

Her remark left her co-stars a bit taken aback. Vanessa let out an awkward laugh while Ben responded, “That was quite dramatic!” However, Cat stood her ground and replied, “It’s true! Sleep when you’re dead!”, according to the Express.

Gyles, chuckling at her unusual statement, quipped, “And it won’t be that long!” Ben swiftly moved on to the next segment, but the awkwardness lingered.

The moment did not go unnoticed by viewers, many of whom took to social media to express their surprise. One viewer wrote, “Cat ‘you can sleep when you’re dead’—what a thing to say,” while another commented, “Cat to Gyles ‘You can sleep when you’re dead’ – wtaf?” Someone else added, “Cat is so awkward sometimes! ‘Sleep when you’re dead!’”

The conversation shifted to Vanessa’s experience with sleep deprivation, as she shared stories from her radio days. “At 3:20am in the morning, live on air at 4am for 12 years!” Vanessa said. “I did think, in a way, you’re ahead of the game because everyone else is still slumbering. You’ve done everything, achieved everything, and read all the papers. It’s a marvellous feeling, in a way.”

However, she continued, “But, you’re so tired you can’t enjoy a single minute of it.” Ben agreed, adding, “That’s the thing, it’s going to catch up with you at the other end.”

The awkward moment with Cat left viewers discussing whether or not the comment was too blunt, but it certainly added an unexpected twist to the morning’s conversation.
