Caitlyn Jenner told Sean Hannity she doesn’t think California needs to fund a high-speed rail: ‘I can get on a plane at LAX, and I’ll be in San Francisco in 50 minutes

Caitlyn Jenner appeared on Fox News for an interview with the host Sean Hannity on Wednesday night and made repeated references to her private plane and suggested support for public transportation wasn’t necessary, leaving some critics to say she was out of touch.

The interview, which took place in Jenner’s private plane hangar near Malibu, California, was meant to promote her run for California governor against Gavin Newsom in a special recall election.
“Here’s my crazy thinking. We are now spending billions of dollars on this high-speed rail, OK, and they talk about it all the time, between LA and San Francisco. And I’m going, ‘Why are we doing that?’ I can get on a plane at LAX, and I’ll be in San Francisco in 50 minutes. Why do we need high-speed rail?” Jenner said, referring to an ongoing project meant to transport travelers from Anaheim and Los Angeles to San Francisco in under three hours.

The 71-year-old former Olympian is best known to young audiences for appearing on her family’s reality TV series “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Jenner has no prior political experience and most recently appeared as a contestant on “The Masked Singer.”

During her segment with Hannity, Jenner also touched on how Los Angeles’ growing unhoused population was making the city unattractive to her friends, including a fellow private-plane owner.

“My friends are leaving California,” she told Hannity. “My hangar, the guy right across, he was packing up his hangar and I said, ‘Where are you going?’ And he says, ‘I’m moving to Sedona, Arizona. I can’t take it anymore. I can’t walk down the streets and see the homeless.'”I don’t want to leave. Either I stay and fight, or I get out of here,” she continued.

Many, including California Rep. Ted Lieu, have since called out Jenner’s privilege.

“Dear @Caitlyn_Jenner: California grew by 2.4 million people the last 10 years. Also, unlike you, Dems are focused on the 99% of people who don’t own planes or hangars,” he tweeted.

Lea Black, one of the stars of “The Real Housewives of Miami,” tweeted: “Maybe that rich guy that can afford a hanger and a plane should help create a solution for the homeless and help pay for it. You are way out of touch with the real world #CaitlynJenner.”

Jenner also doubled down on her opposition to trans girls participating in girls’ sports but then told Hannity it was important that she be a role model to trans youth.

As the interview ended, Jenner again referenced her private plane.

“Now I’m gonna find my plane around the corner and I’m gonna take it for a flight,” she said.
