Discerning tastes call for out-of-the-box designs and unique creations, ones that one wouldn’t think could fit in interior design and would be better of at a museum or art gallery exhibition. Boca do Lobo Blog makes a point to highlight these pieces, not only for their limited edition nature but because what some may call eccentric, we view as necessary! Let’s discover some truly Boundary Defying Objets From Incredible Product Designers!
Oskar Zieta is an architect and founder/CEO of Zieta Prozessdesign. Zieta Prozessdesign Studio works with metals such as steel, copper and aluminium that have a long life and can be recycled over and over without losing their key properties. Secondly, they make all their objects with FiDU, an innovative metal forming technology, which allows a 2D sheet of metal to be transformed into a 3D object with pressurized air, making the end- products empty inside, which means that the whole process requires less material and energy compared to the other metal –forming technologies.
Thirdly, the Zieta objects are made entirely from a single material, which practically means that a single delivery from the sheet metal producer to the studio is needed to make them and that they are ideal for recycling. Finally, the objects are designed for generations of users, as the metal needs to age in order to gain its noble quality and unique character for which it is valued the most.
Brian Thoreen is a Los Angeles and Mexico City-based product designer who creates furniture, art and installations that gather their ethos from the integral nature of the materials within the application. His works, whether rigid or fluid, follow a commandment that the inspiration is in the medium and the final product will always tell its own truth.
The product designer’s vision has been focused through years of working in the fields of art, design and architecture. He found early inspiration working closely with artists like Tony Delap, James Turrell, Peter Wegner and the James Corcoran Gallery and brings this artistic sensibility to real-world applications, always focussing on quality in an effort to maintain the implicit virtue of his works.
Constance Guisset is a French product designer. She founded her studio in 2009, specialized in product design, interior design and scenography. Her work is marked by a search for balance between ergonomics, delicacy and imagination.
Her objects are as many attempts to explore the incarnation of the movement by lightness or surprise while defending a requirement of comfort and hospitality for the body.
Karim Rashid is one of the most prolific product designers of his generation. Over 4000 designs in production, over 300 awards and working in over 40 countries attest to Karim’s legend of design.
In his spare time, Karim’s pluralism flirts with art, fashion, and music and is determined to creatively touch every aspect of our physical and virtual landscape.
