Boris Johnson Praises Harry and Meghan: ‘I Failed to Avert Megxit’

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently expressed admiration for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during an interview promoting his new book, Unleashed. Speaking on GB News, Johnson reflected fondly on his past interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, praising their dedication and professionalism.

Johnson highlighted their involvement in an event focused on female education, saying, “Prince Harry and Meghan, in my view, they came to an event we did for female education, and they were brilliant. And she was particularly good and articulate and on it and on the detail.” His comments underscored the positive impression the couple left on him during their collaboration.

The former Prime Minister also discussed his relationship with Prince Harry, recalling their work together on the Invictus Games for disabled veterans at the Olympic Park. When asked by host Camilla Tominey if he got along well with the Sussexes, Johnson responded, “Yeah, I got on well with both of them.”

Johnson then admitted that he attempted to prevent “Megxit“—Prince Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties—a topic he explores in his book. He shared, “In a fit of pomposity, I thought: This national asset is leaving our country. I think, on the whole, he could be a force for good. I’m going to try and discourage him. I had a pathetic attempt at that. It didn’t work. I failed to avert Megxit, but I did deliver Brexit.”

The interview clip quickly circulated on social media, sparking varied reactions from viewers. Many fans focused on Camilla Tominey’s reaction as Johnson praised the Sussexes. One user on X commented, “Watch Camilla Tominey’s face as Boris Johnson gushes praise for Harry and Meghan; she looks like she’s chewed a wasp. I loathe him, but this clip will keep me warm this winter.”

Another viewer added, “Christ almighty, she looks absolutely devastated and on the verge of breaking down in floods of sobbing. A pleasurable view even though it’s got Bloater Johnson in it.”

A third fan observed, “The woman is absolutely appalled at the fact that someone is speaking nice about them, just look at her facial expressions.”

Johnson’s remarks reveal his continued fondness for Harry and Meghan, despite his unsuccessful efforts to dissuade them from stepping back as senior royals. His candid reflections add an intriguing layer to the ongoing discussions surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
