Princess Beatrice’s Former Boyfriend Dies in Hotel, Suspected Overdose Linked to Heavy Gambling Debts

Paolo Liuzzo, who was previously in a relationship with Princess Beatrice, has died in Miami under tragic circumstances. Found in a hotel room at the citizenM Miami Worldcenter, his death at age 41 is suspected to be the result of a drug overdose. Liuzzo, an art consultant, was discovered deceased on February 7, prompting an ongoing police investigation into the exact causes.

Liuzzo’s life had been marked by highs and lows, notably dating Princess Beatrice in 2005 when she was just 17. Their relationship drew public attention when he accompanied her and her family on a ski trip in Verbier, Switzerland. However, their romance faced challenges, including legal troubles that forced Liuzzo back to the U.S., stemming from a prior assault and battery charge related to the death of a student in Massachusetts. He once reflected on their relationship, stating, “I loved her but I wasn’t in love with her.” told by The Sun.

A source close to Liuzzo revealed that he had been struggling personally, leading to a troubling pattern of behavior. “He loved to party and gamble,” the friend explained. “He began using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs but that later led to cocaine and harder drugs. It was a very fast lifestyle and we all feared it would catch up with him eventually.” The friend also noted that Liuzzo had been caught in a “vicious cycle” of borrowing money to cover escalating debts.

Princess Beatrice, now 35, has since moved on and married Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi, a property developer. The couple has a daughter named Siena. The news of Liuzzo’s death reached Beatrice around the same time her mother, Sarah Ferguson, was diagnosed with skin cancer, adding to a period of personal challenges for the family.

As the investigation continues, authorities have not yet released an official cause of death due to local privacy regulations. However, the focus remains on whether a drug overdose may have been the cause, highlighting the tragic end to a life fraught with personal difficulties and public scrutiny.
