Angelina Jolie wants to end every tie she has with her ex Brad Pitt including their winery business by selling Chateau Miraval.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt own Château Miraval, the French castle and winery, but she is already trying to unload it. The Maleficent star has no interest in keeping the business with her ex.
Angelina Jolie filed a petition asking the judge to lift the automatic temporary restraining order (ATRO) on her divorce from Brad Pitt. The ATRO is a common order that prevents either party from making any financial decisions that would hurt the other throughout their divorce proceedings.
Jolie and Pitt split in 2016 and were declared legally single in 2019. However, the pair have not finalized their divorce settlement and custody agreement yet.
In the court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Jolie’s lawyers claim that the Salt actress has already found a third-part buyer for Nouvell, LLC. However, she cannot push through with the sale because Pitt has not yet consented to the lifting of the ATRO. So, she needs the judge to interfere and approve her request Otherwise, will not be able to sell Miraval.
Jolie previously filed an emergency application to remove the ATRO on June 30. However, the judge ruled that her team failed to prove that there was an “immediate danger/irreparable harm or immediate loss/damage to property.”
The Changeling star’s legal counsel insisted that the property solely belongs to Jolie in the first place. She purchased it before they wed in 2014. Jolie’s team has requested a hearing for Sept. 22 when she will ask the judge again to lift the ATRO, so she can move forward with the sale.
Last year, Brad Pitt made headlines when he was photographed with Nicole Poturalski in an airport in Paris. The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star took her to Chateau Miraval which raised some eyebrows.
Many disapproved of Pitt’s move because he shares the property with his ex-wife Jolie. Also, it was where they tied the knot in 2016. Moreover, their visit happened at around the same time Jolie and Pitt tied the knot in the property.
Several called out Pitt for being insensitive at the time. His ex-wife Jennifer Aniston also said in a previous interview that Pitt lacked a “sensitivity chip.”
When Aniston and Pitt split in 2005, he appeared in a 60-page spread for W magazine with Jolie shortly after they separated. The Friends alum believed the Ad Astra actor did not intend to rub something on her face, he was simply insensitive.
“But I know Brad. Brad would say, ‘That’s art!’” Aniston said. She rolled her eyes before adding, “There’s a sensitivity chip that’s missing.”
