Amanda Owen Opens Up About Ex-Husband Clive’s Health ‘It’s Been a Nightmare’ as Family Rallies Around

Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has revealed the challenging time her ex-husband Clive Owen is experiencing following a major surgery. Amanda, who gained popularity on the Channel 5 series before launching her own show on Channel 4, recently spoke with ITV’s Lorraine about Clive’s health struggles and how their family is pulling together to support him through his recovery.

Clive, who recently underwent a hip replacement, has faced a difficult recuperation period, with Amanda describing the experience as a “nightmare.” Reflecting on how the family is coping, she shared, “There’s a lot going on here. It’s been a nightmare here. I’ve got children going to school, I’ve got children studying and children working, and then he comes to me and says he’s bored.” She added that Clive hasn’t been an easy patient, saying, “He’s had a hip replacement and he’s a terrible patient”, according to the Daily Mail.

Despite the chaos, Amanda noted that everyone is doing their best to manage. “Everybody’s just getting on, and stuff’s getting done, but just not how he would like it,” she said, laughing, “But most of the time, we don’t care.”

During her conversation, Amanda also touched on the couple’s latest project featured in their new Channel 4 spin-off series, Our Farm Next Door. She explained that this venture is deeply personal, as they’re revamping a property that’s entirely their own, unlike Ravenseat, their tenanted farm. “This actually belongs to us, whereas Ravenseat is a tenanted farm. This has an amazing history, and no one has actually lived here for over 100 years,” Amanda explained, adding that the home presents its own unique challenges since it lacks a proper road leading to it.

Renovating the home has added extra stress to their already busy lives. Balancing the demands of farming with construction work has been a learning curve for Amanda, who admitted she’s no expert in home renovation. “It was never going to be simple. I’m not that much of a twit, right?” she quipped. “Ask me anything about sheep, and I’ll tell you what I think about them. Ask me anything about hill farming, no problem. Ask me anything about home renovations, not a clue.”

The family’s ambitious plan involves transforming part of the house into a livable space while managing their farm duties. Despite the challenges, Amanda and Clive remain determined, focusing on building a future in this new home while keeping their farm going. As Clive continues to recover, Amanda’s sense of humor and resilience shine through as she balances family life, farm management, and an extensive renovation project, showing the dedication and grit that endeared her to viewers across the UK.
