Aimee Lou Wood hits Back after SNL Mocks her Looks
Aimee Lou Wood has called out Saturday Night Live after a recent sketch mocked her appearance, sparking backlash online and prompting an apology from the show.
The White Lotus and Sex Education star was parodied in an SNL skit titled The White Potus, which imagined political figures, including the Trump family, on holiday. In the sketch, comedian Sarah Shermon wore oversized prosthetic teeth while impersonating Aimee, a choice that didn’t go unnoticed.
The 31-year-old actress didn’t stay quiet. She took to Instagram to express how she felt about being the butt of the joke, calling it out for being unnecessarily cruel. “It was a sharp and funny skit until it suddenly took a screeching turn into 1970s misogyny,” she shared, reposting a fan’s comment that echoed her disappointment.
The parody quickly made headlines, and fans rallied around Aimee, criticising the show for taking a cheap shot. Amid the backlash, the Daily Mail reported that SNL had since reached out to apologise.
Aimee confirmed the gesture by posting a tongue-in-cheek selfie on her Instagram Story, where her face was distorted to exaggerate her eyes and mouth. She captioned it, “I’ve had apologies from SNL,” confirming the show had made amends.
The actress had previously been vocal about the criticism she received over her teeth, especially after her rise to fame. In interviews, she’s spoken about the pressure to conform to Hollywood standards and how she’s chosen to embrace her natural appearance—something that’s earned her both praise and, unfortunately, mocking attention.
Fans have since shown overwhelming support, praising her for standing up against the sketch and staying true to herself. And while the SNL joke might have fallen flat with many viewers, Aimee’s classy but confident response didn’t.
