Adidas Global Sales Chief Arthur Hoeld to Step Down, Succeeded by Mathieu Sidokpohou

Arthur Hoeld, the executive board member responsible for Adidas’ global sales, is set to step down by the end of October 31, 2024, via Adidas Group. After more than two decades with the company, Hoeld will be succeeded by Mathieu Sidokpohou, effective November 1, 2024.

Sidokpohou, 49, a French national, joined Adidas in 2020 as general manager for Adidas France. His rapid ascent within the company saw him become general manager of the South Europe cluster in July 2021, before assuming the role of managing director for Europe in 2023. His leadership has been instrumental in driving the brand’s growth across Europe.

Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden expressed confidence in Sidokpohou’s appointment, stating, “Mathieu has exactly the experience and the attitude that we need at this point of our turnaround to continue the momentum and further grow our business together with our partners. Mathieu and his team have led the recent success in our home market Europe, which grew by more than 20 percent.”

Arthur Hoeld, who joined Adidas in 1998, has been a key figure in the company’s global strategy. Over his 26-year tenure, Hoeld held various leadership positions, including senior vice president of brand strategy and business development, general manager for Adidas Originals, and managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). His contribution to the company’s turnaround efforts was highlighted by Thomas Rabe, chairman of the supervisory board of Adidas AG. “With his strong commercial experience and brand track record, Arthur celebrated many successes over the last two decades and was an integral part of our turnaround. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours,” Rabe said.

As of November 1, 2024, Adidas’ executive board will include CEO Bjørn Gulden, CFO Harm Ohlmeyer, Michelle Robertson (head of global human resources, people, and culture), and Mathieu Sidokpohou (head of global sales). Sidokpohou’s promotion marks a key step in the company’s ongoing efforts to sustain growth and drive global sales.

Arthur Hoeld’s departure signals the end of a significant era for the brand, as it transitions into the next phase of its global strategy under Sidokpohou’s leadership.
