Meghan Markle leads backlash to ensue: ‘Its hardly the time or place for you’
0Royal experts are voicing concerns about the upcoming release of With Love, Meghan as Los Angeles grapples with devastating wildfires. Royal commentator Phil Dampier shared his views, saying the timing of Meghan Markle’s Netflix series is ill-suited given the current crisis.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Dampier remarked, “The timing of Meghan’s Netflix show could hardly be worse as hundreds of people have lost their homes in the terrible fires.”
Dampier criticized the show’s premise, suggesting it feels out of touch with the reality many are facing. “The last thing anyone is interested in is a program about having friends round to eat canapés or arrange flowers when the city is going up in flames and people have lost everything,” he said.
The commentator also acknowledged the efforts of Prince Harry and Meghan in supporting those affected by the wildfires. “Harry and Meghan did the right thing by saying they would help friends and put them up in their own home,” he noted.
However, Dampier pointed out the challenges the couple faces in public perception, adding, “The trouble is that they can’t really win—some will say they are just doing it as a PR move.” Dampier suggested that delaying the release of the show might be a wise move.
“I think it would be sensible for Netflix to pull the show and bring it back in the summer when things are a bit better,” he said, while emphasizing the long road ahead for recovery. “The devastation is so bad that it will take years, if not decades, to rebuild some of the communities.”
As the release of With Love, Meghan approaches, the criticism highlights the delicate balance public figures must navigate during times of crisis. While the Sussexes’ efforts to assist those affected by the fires are commendable, the debate around the show’s timing underscores the sensitivity required in such challenging moments.
