Eamonn Holmes Breaks Silence with Subtle Support for Ruth Langsford After Mum’s Hospitalisation
0Former This Morning host Eamonn Holmes has made his first public contact with his estranged wife Ruth Langsford, offering a subtle show of support on social media following a family emergency. The pair, who announced their divorce in June, have been leading separate lives, with reports suggesting they are seeking a swift resolution to their split in the coming year, reported by the Express.
Holmes, 65, broke a six-month silence by liking one of Langsford’s recent Instagram posts. The post detailed the hospitalisation of Langsford’s 93-year-old mother after a fall that fractured her pelvis.
Accompanying a photo of her mother’s clasped hands and a half-finished crossword puzzle, Langsford shared an emotional update:
“Hospital visit…. thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum. She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas.”
Holmes’ quiet acknowledgment of the post joined tens of thousands of others, including supportive messages from celebrities like Cat Deeley and Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha. Despite their ongoing divorce and Holmes’ new relationship with 43-year-old counsellor Katie Alexander, his gesture may have reflected compassion in light of the difficult circumstances.
Langsford, 64, expressed the personal toll of her mother’s injury, sharing how it would impact their usual festive traditions:
“No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas.”
While the outlook for her mother remains hopeful, Langsford revealed her gratitude that no surgery was required:
“She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now. She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon.”
The situation has brought perspective for Langsford amid the upheaval of her personal life. She reflected:
“This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well… she’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too. Put’s life and what’s important into perspective eh? Happy Christmas!”
As the estranged couple navigates their divorce, reports suggest Ruth intends to remain in their £3.5 million marital home, while Eamonn is eager to move on and start fresh. A source close to the couple said:
“Ruth is keen to stay in their marital home as it is where she is settled. Eamonn, on the other hand, wants to get out and make a fresh start. They aren’t dragging their heels and want this settled and done as quickly as possible.”
For now, however, Langsford’s focus remains on her family and her mother’s recovery, as she prepares for a bittersweet Christmas season.
