Prince Andrew Under Pressure to Step Away Before Royal Christmas Lunch

Prince Andrew is reportedly facing mounting pressure to make a decision about his attendance at the upcoming Sandringham gathering, particularly with a significant lunch at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, according to the Daily Mail. King Charles, who is battling cancer and enduring a challenging year, is said to have little patience for further discomfort or controversy involving his disgraced brother.

Following the ongoing row over Royal Lodge, sources claim Andrew is being urged to “step away” voluntarily to avoid another awkward situation. An insider told The Sun: “There would inevitably have to be some very awkward conversations, and the King would not relish making his brother squirm. Andrew has managed the unthinkable and made a complete tt of himself even before the Christmas party.”*

The lunch, which is expected to host over 50 extended members of the Royal Family, presents a delicate situation for King Charles. Courtiers are reportedly working behind the scenes to encourage Prince Andrew to not attend, thereby avoiding any unnecessary tension during what is meant to be a festive celebration.

A royal source explained: “It’s been a hell of a year for The Firm, and the last thing they want is this scandal dragging on during a period of celebration.” The source further described Andrew’s actions as “foolish” and emphasized that his cooperation could help bring closure to the controversy. “The more the shamed royal keeps his head down, the sooner everyone can move on”, reported by the Mirror.

Despite the pressure, King Charles is reportedly hesitant to take direct action against his brother. According to another source, the monarch is relying on courtiers to navigate a more diplomatic solution. “The King would be hesitant to ban his brother outright and is relying on courtiers for advice,” they said.

With the royal family looking to end a difficult year on a positive note, Prince Andrew’s attendance at the lunch and Sandringham festivities remains uncertain. The ongoing tension highlights the delicate balance King Charles must strike as he prioritizes both family unity and the monarchy’s public image.
