Ruth Langsford has subtly hinted at her feelings regarding ex-husband Eamonn Holmes’ recent engagement news, as she shifts her focus to caring for her mother, Joan, who recently suffered a fall. Ruth and Eamonn surprised fans earlier this year when they announced the end of their 14-year marriage.
While GB News presenter Eamonn, 64, has been embracing his new relationship with partner Katie Alexander, 42, Ruth remains firmly dedicated to her family. Ruth recently returned from a solo trip to Australia, where she supported her Loose Women co-star Jane Moore on I’m A Celebrity, only to be greeted with the news that her mother had been hospitalised with a fractured pelvis.
Ruth took to Instagram to share an update, posting a video of her mum peeling vegetables in the kitchen. The caption read: *“No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling mum this Christmas… she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis! She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness, but she needs rest and time to heal now.
“She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon. This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well… she’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too”, reports the Mirror.
Ruth concluded the post with a seemingly reflective comment: “Puts life and what’s important into perspective eh? Happy Christmas!” Many interpreted the remark as a veiled response to Eamonn’s recent relationship developments.
This week, during a discussion on Loose Women about wedding etiquette, Ruth made an off-the-cuff comment that hinted at her personal circumstances. Panellist Mariella Frostrup quipped, “That’s a whole other subject, isn’t it? How to divorce well,” to which Ruth responded with a quick, “Oh, tell me about it,” before steering the conversation to a commercial break.
Meanwhile, Eamonn and Katie have been enjoying trips together, including a Mediterranean cruise in September and a recent romantic getaway to Paris. The couple drew attention when Katie was spotted with a sparkling ring on her engagement finger outside the Louvre. This came just weeks after she attended a West London carol concert without the ring, fueling speculation.
A source told The Sun: “Eamonn has been talking openly about his plans to marry Katie and has made it clear he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. They’re already living together, and he knows it feels right. They have a very strong connection and get on very well.” The source added that Katie has given Eamonn “a real lust for life” and takes good care of him amid his ongoing health struggles.
Eamonn, who underwent a hip replacement in 2016, has been candid about his mobility issues, admitting he fears he may never walk unaided again. Despite these challenges, his relationship with Katie seems to be bringing him happiness and renewed energy.
