Carol Royle Mourns Husband’s Sudden Loss After Freezing Pool Incident

Coronation Street actress Carol Royle is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Julian Spear, after 47 years of marriage, reported by GB News. Carol, 70, shared the devastating news in an emotional Facebook post, revealing the tragic circumstances of his sudden passing on December 9th.

In her poignant message, Carol wrote: “I am desperately sorry to post that we lost my wonderful husband, Julian Spear, today, 9th December. Perfectly fit man but jumped into a freezing outdoor pool which he assumed was heated as per usual yesterday, and he developed a sudden massive brain haemorrhage – our hearts are aching.”

The actress reflected on their long-lasting relationship and expressed her overwhelming grief, sharing: “Married 47 years – known each other 56. Forgive me if I am not on Facebook very much for a while”, according to the Express.

Fans and friends flooded the post with messages of support, offering their heartfelt condolences and sympathies. One follower wrote: “Oh Carol, my heart goes out to you with this terrible news. Carol also shared the news on Julian’s Facebook page, hinting that funeral arrangements would be made after Christmas. She wrote: “I shall put details here eventually – the funeral will be after Christmas…..”

Julian Spear, beyond being Carol’s devoted partner, carried a rich artistic legacy as a musician and the son of Bernard Spear, the actor famed for his role in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Together, Carol and Julian shared two children, Taran and Talitha.

Carol Royle is best known for her distinguished acting career spanning decades. She played Jenny Russell in Life Without George and Lady Patricia Brewster in Heartbeat.
