Police Find Body in Search for Missing Darlington Woman Helen

A body has been discovered in the search for missing Darlington woman Helen, Durham Constabulary confirmed on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old was last seen leaving Merrybent Drive at 3:30 a.m. on Monday (December 9), prompting police to launch an urgent search. Authorities had expressed they were “increasingly concerned” for Helen’s safety, with “extensive enquiries” conducted overnight and into the following day, according to the Sun.

In a statement, Durham Constabulary revealed the tragic update: “We’re sorry to report that officers searching for missing Darlington woman Helen have sadly found a body.”

The discovery was made earlier on Tuesday in the Stapleton area. While formal identification is yet to take place, Helen’s family has been notified of the findings and is being supported by specialist officers.

The statement continued: “Officers carried out extensive enquiries alongside partners through the night and into this morning to locate her. The body was found in the Stapleton area earlier today.”
