First Picture Shows Young Mum Alana Armstrong Killed in Hit-and-Run E-Bike Crash
0The woman who tragically died after being knocked off an e-bike in a hit-and-run collision has been named as 25-year-old mother-of-one Alana Armstrong, Derbyshire Police have confirmed.
The fatal incident occurred on Tuesday, November 26, at around 8 pm on Batley Lane, in Pleasley, Derbyshire. According to police, the crash involved a Land Rover Discovery, which had been following two e-bikes before ramming one off the road. The impact caused both riders to fall, with Alana Armstrong tragically dying at the scene.
The man who was riding the e-bike, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery to amputate his leg below the knee. However, his injuries are not life-threatening. The driver of the Land Rover Discovery fled the scene without stopping, prompting Derbyshire Police to launch a murder investigation, told Daily Mail.
Speaking about the loss, Derbyshire Police Chief Superintendent Dave Kirby said, “Alana was just 25 – and a mum to a six-year-old boy. Her little boy, along with her wider family, will never get the chance to see her again, hug her again, spend Christmas together, or celebrate all those milestones.” He added, “My thoughts, as well as those of the whole force and community, are with them at this time.”
The police investigation revealed that the Land Rover had been pursuing the two e-bikes through the village before the collision. The vehicle continued down Batley Lane and was last seen turning right onto the A617 towards New Houghton.
Since the tragic incident, a team of detectives has been working tirelessly, conducting house-to-house inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Two individuals, a man and a woman in their 30s from Skegby, Nottinghamshire, were arrested in connection with the crash but have since been released without charge. They have been ruled out of the investigation.
The investigation into the hit-and-run continues, and authorities are appealing for information or witnesses to come forward. For now, Alana Armstrong’s family, including her six-year-old son, are left to grieve the loss of a beloved daughter, mother, and friend.
