Susanna Reid and Ed Balls’ Interview with Rob Schneider Called a ‘Car Crash’ by Viewers

Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls faced strong reactions after their interview with Home Alone actor Rob Schneider, with viewers labeling it a “car crash” and “train wreck.” The tense exchange aired shortly after Donald Trump declared a “magnificent victory for the American people” in the U.S. election.

Schneider, 61, a controversial figure known for his anti-vaccine stance and past remarks criticized as transphobic, quickly stirred tension by announcing he was “celebrating” Trump’s win. He launched into a critique of former GMB guest Mehdi Hasan, accusing him of “elitist nonsense” and claiming Hasan had made controversial remarks about non-Muslims and gay people, according to Metro.co.uk.

Susanna attempted to keep the interview on track, interjecting, “Sorry, I can’t… Mehdi Hasan has made an attack on Donald Trump, and I understand you want to take issue with that, but please don’t turn this into a personal attack.” Ed Balls also tried to steer Schneider back to the main topic, but the actor continued to speak over the hosts, accusing them of calling Trump “racist” and “misogynistic.” Ed and Susanna laughed in response, clarifying, “Neither of us has uttered those words,” with Ed asking, “Are you sure you were watching our programme?”

The exchange became even more bizarre when Schneider offered a bet, saying, “I’ll bet you £10,000,” as Ed responded with humor, “I feel like we’re on Saturday Night Live here, Rob. Are we on Home Alone 4?” Schneider went on to claim he heard the hosts say something “off-camera” against Trump, leaving both presenters baffled.

Viewers took to social media platform X to share their reactions. Some were entertained by the chaotic interaction, while others criticized the hosts for talking over Schneider. One user wrote, “Watch the Rob Schneider interview on GMB if you haven’t already. Chef’s kiss stuff,” while another commented, “This Rob Schneider interview is car crash TV at its finest!”

Other viewers expressed frustration with Ed Balls for not allowing Schneider to speak. “As much as I might disagree with most of what Rob Schneider said, the way Ed Balls kept talking over him was infuriating,” one viewer posted. Another user described the segment as “embarrassing,” saying, “I don’t agree with him, but let him speak.”

The interview concluded with Schneider predicting “a good day for America,” as Susanna thanked him for the “interesting” conversation. The GMB team was broadcasting live from the U.S., having aired Trump’s speech where he promised, “America’s future will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer, and stronger than it has ever been before.”
