Rebekah Vardy Responds: ‘Give it a Rest!’ Amid Coleen’s Jungle Debut

Rebekah Vardy has jetted out of the UK, just as Coleen Rooney landed in Australia to prepare for her appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! The timing of Vardy’s departure quickly stirred speculation that she might be avoiding the renewed attention surrounding her infamous feud with Rooney, known as the “Wagatha Christie” saga. However, Vardy wasn’t having it and addressed the rumors head-on.

As reported by Mail Online, a source suggested that Rebekah was “dreading the prospect” of seeing Coleen in the jungle, where hosts Ant and Dec might reference the high-profile libel case that Vardy lost. The source revealed that Rebekah’s husband, footballer Jamie Vardy, planned to “whisk her away to Dubai for a week” to help her avoid the media storm surrounding Coleen’s jungle stint. “The last thing she wants is to turn on her TV to see Coleen,” the source explained, noting that the idea of Ant and Dec poking fun at the trial “fills her with dread.”

However, Vardy was quick to dismiss these rumors in her typical no-nonsense style. Taking to her Instagram stories, she responded, “Oh give it a rest! Nothing to do with it being international break!” She then leaned into the joke by sharing a playful selfie from her plane seat with the caption, “Fleeing the country,” complete with a laughing and waving emoji, showing she wasn’t taking the speculation too seriously.

The “Wagatha Christie” trial began after Coleen accused Vardy in 2019 of leaking fabricated stories about her to the press, leading to a heated libel case. Ultimately, Vardy lost, and was ordered to pay 90% of Coleen’s legal fees.

Coleen has been open about why she’s finally decided to join I’m A Celebrity. Despite being approached year after year, she always declined, citing family obligations and a lack of interest. “It has been year after year I have been asked to go on a programme and it’s always been a straight no,” she said. Now, with her children older, she’s ready for the challenge. “I also feel it is time to have a challenge for me and do something different… I think it will be good for me.”

This season, Coleen will be joined in the jungle by a diverse group of celebrities, including social media star GK Barry, pop icon Tulisa, radio DJ Melvin Odoom, and Loose Women’s Jane Moore.

As Coleen prepares for her jungle adventure, Rebekah’s playful departure shows she’s brushing off the drama, choosing a sunny getaway over any potential TV stir.
