Prince Harry’s Spare Reissue Sparks Controversy as Critics Claim ‘Nasty Threat’ Over Missing Pages

Prince Harry’s re-release of his memoir, Spare, is causing waves within royal circles, with some critics calling it a “nasty threat” to the Royal Family despite the lack of new content in the paperback version. Royal historian and commentator Richard Fitzwilliams voiced his concerns over the re-release, especially since there were no additional chapters or material, even though Harry initially mentioned cutting around 400 pages deemed “too sensitive.”

In an interview with GB News, Fitzwilliams expressed relief that the paperback did not contain fresh allegations, given the intense scrutiny and backlash following the memoir’s initial release.‘One thing one has to say about the paperback of Spare is that at least it didn’t include anything new,’ he stated, noting that the absence of additional controversial material is a positive turn, according to GB News. Fitzwilliams views the decision not to add content as a welcome break from the turmoil generated by Harry’s previous public statements and high-profile interviews during the memoir’s initial launch.

Reflecting on Harry’s initial promotional campaign, which involved candid interviews that intensified the family rift, Fitzwilliams remarked on the contrast between Harry’s current silence and the earlier media blitz. The royal commentator observed, “We know that 400 pages, according to Harry, were originally cut out because they were deemed too sensitive, which was obviously a nasty threat.” His comment underscores the unease around what those unreleased pages might have contained, particularly any further critiques directed at his family, including his brother, Prince William.

Fitzwilliams also observed that Prince Harry’s recent solo ventures, without Meghan Markle by his side, hint at a new phase in his public life, potentially steering toward individual pursuits. “Whenever they’re silent or doing their own thing, and recently doing it quite successfully solo, we wonder where all this will lead,” he said, leaving open questions about Harry’s next steps and the couple’s future direction.

The re-release of Spare without added material may appear uncontroversial, but Fitzwilliams and other royal observers remain intrigued by Harry’s professional trajectory and its implications for the royal family. As Harry carves out his own path, the absence of new revelations in Spare suggests a cautious approach, yet it leaves the door open for further developments in the Duke’s complex relationship with the monarchy.
