‘She Lit Up Every Room’: Daughter Pays Tribute to ‘Bubbly’ Mum After Sudden Passing

Jasmine Connor, 23, has paid a heartfelt tribute to her “bubbly” mother, Gemma Connor, following her sudden passing on October 12. Gemma, a 40-year-old NHS mental health practitioner from Peterborough, passed away unexpectedly at home, leaving her family and friends in shock. Jasmine shared that her mother’s heart “just stopped overnight and she couldn’t be resuscitated,” a devastating loss for those close to her, via Yahoo.

In response to her mother’s unexpected death, Jasmine has set up a GoFundMe page to cover the funeral expenses, which she admitted were surprisingly high. “It’s a shock to us, and funerals are so expensive,” she explained. “We never knew how much they cost, so that’s why we started the GoFundMe. It was an unexpected death.”

Jasmine remembers her mother as a warm and lively person with a magnetic personality. “She was amazing. She was bubbly and had so many friends. She lit up every room. She had so many people who cared about her and so much left to live for,” she said, emphasizing the immense love and admiration Gemma received from friends and family.

In addition to her daughter, Gemma leaves behind a 17-year-old son, Callum. Gemma had been in the process of planning her wedding, making her sudden passing even more heartbreaking for her loved ones.

Since the fundraiser launched, Jasmine has been overwhelmed by the support and donations they’ve received. “It’s really hard,” she shared. “The support we have received so far has been incredible. All the donations and messages show how many people loved her, which is overwhelming.”

The fundraiser page further emphasizes the impact Gemma had on those around her, describing her as “a beloved mother, fiancé, daughter, sister, and friend who passed away unexpectedly.” It reads, “Gemma helped so many people through her work and touched the lives of many personally too. She will be incredibly missed, and we want to give her a lovely send-off.”

With her mother’s legacy as a caring mental health practitioner and a friend to many, Jasmine hopes to honor her memory with a fitting farewell, supported by the community Gemma touched throughout her life.
