Lindsay Lohan Sued By HarperCollins For Breaching Book Deal Worth $365k

Lindsay Lohan has found herself in a legal mess. HarperCollins is suing the Freaky Friday actress for allegedly entering into a book deal in 2014 and never writing a book.

Yes, you read that right, over 6 years now and the publication hasn’t seen a manuscript yet. The lawsuit also claims the publishing house gave Lohan a $365,000 advance against future royalties.

As per the lawsuit filed in New York Supreme Court on Thursday, Lohan’s company Crossheart Productions and HarperCollins entered into a contract in March 2014.

The lawsuit also states that Lindsay promised to write a book for the publishing company. Her book was originally due on May 1, 2015. But, in 2016, the trio agreed to push the deadline to March 15, 2017.

The lawsuit states, “The Defendants failed to deliver a complete manuscript for the Work to the Plaintiff by the contractually agreed upon deadline and to this day they have failed to deliver a complete manuscript.”

According to the lawsuit, in September 2018, HarperCollins informed Lohan’s representatives that her contract was terminated. It also asked for its advance back, but the actress hasn’t returned it yet. The publication is now seeking the return of the advance with interest, as well as the cost of legal fees and any further relief the Court deems proper.

In 2014, Lindsay Lohan met with a literary agent as part of her docu-series on OWN. In the meeting, Lohan tells the agent that she’s considering writing a tell-all book that would incorporate journal entries from her past.
