Mom of 5 Dies After Nonsurgical Brazilian Butt Lift Performed in the UK

Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the tragic death of Alice Webb, a 34-year-old mother-of-five, who is believed to have undergone a non-surgical “liquid” Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedure.

Webb, who worked as an advanced aesthetic practitioner, is thought to be the first person in Britain to die as a result of this particular cosmetic treatment. Webb passed away late on Monday night at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after suddenly falling ill. Her partner, Dane Knight, took to social media to express his grief and gratitude for the support received from friends and family.

On Facebook, Knight shared, “Some very beautiful messages sent by some of your children formed a start of a smile from the corner of my kids’ mouths.” He continued, “A heartfelt thank you to all family and friends who were here for us during this time, including all the kind messages sent to my children and myself.”

In his emotional post, Knight also made a plea to respect the privacy of their children, stating, “My children are extremely vulnerable. Alice left us Monday at 11:30 p.m. Two people have been arrested and are currently in custody on potential charges of corporate manslaughter. Please, please have these five girls’ feelings at heart.”

The non-surgical BBL procedure Webb is believed to have undergone involves the injection of hyaluronic acid and dermal fillers to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks, without the need for surgery. According to Save Face, a national register of accredited practitioners for non-surgical cosmetic treatments, this is the first known case of a death caused by this procedure in the UK, told the BBC.

Webb was a well-regarded aesthetic practitioner at Crystal Clear in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire. A GoFundMe campaign set up by a friend described her as “beautiful inside and out, with the biggest heart.” The campaign aimed to support Knight and the couple’s five children during this difficult time.

“Alice passed away Monday evening after having the BBL treatment, which has gone wrong,” the campaign statement read. It praised Webb’s dedication to her clients, noting that she had been excelling in the beauty industry since joining two years ago.

“Alice was a beautiful person inside and out, and I feel very lucky to have known her and to have spent time with her in our salon,” her friend wrote. “She cared about her clients and would always check in to see if they were OK. Alice was always eager to improve her skills, though she was a natural and never really needed my help.”

Gloucestershire Police confirmed that they were called by ambulance services at 11:35 p.m. on Monday, and an investigation is currently ongoing. The two individuals who were arrested have since been released on police bail. A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police stated, “Two people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of a woman in her 30s in Gloucester.”
