William Finds It ‘Easier’ to Cut Ties with Harry Amid Ongoing Rift

Prince William, known for his sensitivity and perseverance, has reportedly been deeply hurt by his rift with his younger brother, Prince Harry. Despite the pain, William found it “easier” to cut ties, according to royal expert Ingrid Seward. The once inseparable brothers now face a chasm so wide that reconciliation seems unlikely.

The departure of Harry and his wife Meghan Markle from the Royal family has been marked by vocal criticisms of the monarchy. Their revelations, made during interviews with Oprah Winfrey, in their Netflix series, various other interviews, and Harry’s memoir “Spare,” have strained their relationship with the rest of the Royal family. Seward suggests that the continuous public airing of grievances played a significant role in William’s decision to distance himself from Harry.

“William is sensitive, he likes structure and has perseverance. He does not give up easily. His relationship with brother Harry upset him more than he would care to admit. But he found it easier to cut ties rather than allow himself to be continually annoyed,” Seward told the Mirror.

This year has been particularly challenging for William. He had to cope with his father, King Charles, battling cancer, and his wife Kate undergoing a serious abdominal operation followed by cancer treatment. Despite these personal challenges, William continued his royal duties, supporting the Queen in his father’s absence. “The traumas of the past year have made him a stronger person. He has become the kind of man Diana always hoped he would be. Kind, considerate, and able to take on whatever life throws at him,” Seward added.

The rift between William and Harry appears to have deepened further. During a January 2023 interview on ’60 Minutes,’ Harry admitted that he does not currently speak to William or their father. “Currently, no. But I look forward to us being able to find peace,” Harry said. He acknowledged that it had been a while since they last communicated.

Despite the distance, Harry expressed hope for reconciliation: “But at the heart of it, there is a family, without question. And I really look forward to having that family element back. I look forward to having a relationship with my brother. I look forward to having a relationship with my father and other members of my family. My brother and I love each other. I love him deeply. There has been a lot of pain between the two of us, especially the last six years.”

Harry’s last visit to the UK was for the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary in May, but he did not meet with his father. Although King Charles extended an offer of Royal accommodation, Harry turned it down, citing Charles’s ‘full schedule.’ However, doubts were cast on this reason, given Charles’s apparent willingness to reconnect.

Despite the strained relations, King Charles seems eager to forge a bond with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. Royal commentator Tom Quinn revealed that the King is encouraging Harry to establish a UK base to facilitate more meaningful family interactions. “King Charles has been putting pressure on Harry to do just this as he is angry that his only relationship with his grandchildren so far is via video calls, which Charles hates. William and Kate’s children would spend the weekend at Highgrove and Harry’s children could then easily pop over from their house nearby,” Quinn said.

However, Quinn remains skeptical about Meghan joining Harry in the UK, considering her previous experiences with the Royal Family. The strained relationships and public criticisms have made it challenging for the family to reconcile.
