Meghan Markle and Prince Harry receive warning against rumored trip to Ghana

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been cautioned about the implications of their planned trip to Ghana, following their recent visit to Nigeria. This advice comes amid their consideration of more international trips, which some are calling ‘quasi-royal tours’.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams expressed concerns to the Mirror about the potential for such tours to lead to mockery, given the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s current non-royal status. The couple’s successful whistlestop tour in Nigeria earlier this month has fueled their enthusiasm for additional travels.

Richard explained: “They would surely need an excuse, their security in Nigeria was provided by the Government and the visit was linked to the Invictus Games, which Nigeria participates in and reportedly is keen to host, but Ghana does not. Nor has Meghan Ghanaian ancestry.” The source shared: “There is already a lot of talk and excitement in Ghana, everyone is so keen for Harry and Meghan to come and experience the great culture and warmth.”

The upcoming trip to Ghana, reportedly scheduled for the next few months, is said to be influenced by both their affiliation with the Invictus Games and Meghan’s personal interest in connecting with her heritage. However, Fitzwilliams warns that another tour resembling those undertaken by royal family members might not be well-received, suggesting that the Sussexes could become targets of derision.

He stressed the importance of carefully considering the nature and purpose of their visits to avoid potential negative perceptions. The proposed tour to Ghana reportedly came about following an invitation from Ghanaian officials, indicating significant interest from the host country in fostering ties with the couple. This visit could potentially highlight important cultural and developmental issues but poses a delicate balance for Harry and Meghan as they navigate their roles outside the traditional boundaries of the British Royal Family.
