“We Don’t Need Your Permission”: Harry and Meghan’s Nigeria Visit Infuriates King Charles and Prince William

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent trip to Nigeria has reportedly left King Charles and Prince William “absolutely furious,” according to royal expert Tom Quinn. Quinn told The Mirror that Harry and Meghan’s visit to Nigeria “confirmed the worst fears” for Charles and William, describing it as “a bold statement that [Harry and Meghan] refuse to accept they are no longer working royals.”

“Everything you might expect from an official royal visit was there – the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled,” Quinn added. “Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude have been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals and William and his father King Charles don’t like it one bit.”

Quinn continued, “For Charles and William, it’s as if Meghan and Harry are saying, ‘We don’t need your permission to be working royals – we will do it on our own terms whenever and wherever we like.'”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were invited by the Nigerian military for the three-day trip. Sources confirmed to MailOnline that Harry and Meghan were “visiting Nigeria in a private capacity,” and the UK government was “not involved in arranging or facilitating their program.”

While the visit might have resembled an official royal tour, Charlotte Wace of The Times highlighted several differences. “The press pack had been replaced by one reporter and one photographer,” she noted. “Most significantly, they were representing themselves rather than the monarch and were free to choose their schedule. There appeared to be fewer formalities and more selfies compared with trips from the past.”

Harry and Meghan’s trip to Nigeria included meetings with local leaders, visits to schools and charities, and interactions with wounded soldiers and disabled individuals. Despite their departure from official royal duties, the couple’s actions during the visit reflected their continued commitment to philanthropy and public service.

This latest move by Harry and Meghan underscores their determination to chart their own course, independent of the constraints of the British royal family. Their trip to Nigeria is a clear indication that they intend to continue their charitable work and public engagements on their own terms, regardless of royal approval.

The visit has sparked further tension within the royal family, with King Charles and Prince William reportedly displeased by the Sussexes’ approach. However, Harry and Meghan’s focus remains on their new life in California, where they continue to raise their children and develop their various business and philanthropic ventures.

Their trip to Nigeria is just one of many initiatives they are pursuing as they build their post-royal legacy, demonstrating their resilience and commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
