Achim Berg, Expert in Fashion Industry, Appointed as External Advisor at Mango

Achim Berg, a luminary in the fashion industry, is set to bring his wealth of experience to Mango, serving as an external advisor to CEO Toni Ruiz and the management team starting May 1, 2024. Berg’s appointment is a strategic move by Mango to leverage his extensive background and connections developed over two decades as a leading management consultant, aiming to fortify Mango’s trajectory towards sustained, profitable growth and to further its ambitions on the global stage.

Toni Ruiz expressed enthusiasm about Berg’s forthcoming contributions, highlighting his unmatched experience and forward-thinking approach to fashion, which are expected to significantly influence Mango’s expansion and international endeavors, as well as its commitment to sustainability.

Berg’s illustrious career includes a 24-year tenure at McKinsey & Company, during which he ascended to the roles of partner and senior partner over 14 years. Notably, he was instrumental in establishing McKinsey’s Apparel, Fashion & Luxury (AF&L) group in 2010 and later spearheaded its EMEA division, culminating in his leadership of the global practice from 2015 until September 2023.

Berg shared his excitement about this new phase in his career, eager to apply his deep industry knowledge and passion for fashion to bolster Mango’s position as a frontrunner in both growth and sustainability in the fashion sector.

His consultancy career has been marked by significant contributions to strategy, digitization, operations, and comprehensive transformations, serving clients across key global markets with a focus on Europe, North America, and Asia. Berg also co-initiated a partnership with The Business of Fashion and co-edited the State of Fashion series for seven years. His insights into the fashion industry’s future will soon be encapsulated in his upcoming book, “The Future of Fashion,” offering a glimpse into anticipated trends and developments.
