Stuart Weitzman Ventures into Eyewear, Collaborating with Safilo Through 2029

The acclaimed luxury footwear brand, Stuart Weitzman, has officially entered into a strategic partnership with the Italian eyewear manufacturer, Safilo Group, paving its way into the eyewear industry. The agreement, which spans until June 2029, anticipates the debut of its inaugural eyewear collection in North America for the fall/winter season of 2024, encompassing both sunglasses and optical frames.

“Recognized for crafting elegant, top-quality shoes that evoke confidence, Stuart Weitzman, like footwear, views eyewear as an emotionally resonant and daily-worn accessory,” articulated Giorgio Sarné, CEO and Brand President of Stuart Weitzman. He further expressed the brand’s aspiration to channel its hallmark values into eyewear, aspiring to design accessories that empower consumers to radiate their optimum selves.

Safilo Group, a pivotal entity in the eyewear sector known for its prowess in designing, manufacturing, and distributing a myriad of eyewear categories, presently manages the licensing rights for Kate Spade. Notably, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman are both constituents of the Tapestry portfolio of brands.

Angelo Trocchia, Safilo Group’s CEO, expressed enthusiasm and pride over the newfound collaboration with Stuart Weitzman, a brand he acknowledged as emblematic of global women’s luxury footwear. He remarked, “With Stuart Weitzman making its coveted entry into the eyewear sphere, we are thrilled to unveil a uniquely crafted launch collection.” Trocchia further emphasized that Stuart Weitzman brings a sterling brand addition to their repertoire in the luxury eyewear segment for women.

Stuart Weitzman, originating in New York City in 1986, has been synonymous with blending artisanal Spanish craftsmanship with modern style in the luxury footwear domain.

Conversely, the Safilo Group, founded in Italy’s Veneto region in 1934, stands as a significant force in the eyewear industry. The company recently secured a 10-year licensing agreement with the fashion brand Etro in June.
