5 Causes of Acne Vulgaris

Acne vulgaris is a common human skin disease that affects areas of the face, chest, and back of the body. Pimples, scaly skin, blackheads, whiteheads, nodules, and scarring are the common symptoms of this disease. It also affects the roots of the hair on the face, chest, and back, causing puss formation. Acne vulgaris can be cured completely under the treatment of a dermatologist.

Here are some causes of acne vulgaris.

1. Biological changes in the body

Acne vulgaris is seen mostly during the adolescent age where the body is undergoing changes like change in voice, growth of pubic hair, starting of the menstruation cycle, and development of breasts in young girls. The skin on the face, chest, and back gets more oily and the removal of dead cells gets slower, thus causing acne.

2. Hormonal changes in the body

This disease is common in adolescents but it also occurs in the early to late 20s when there are hormonal changes in the body. It could be pregnancy, anxiety, stress, or a change in food habits and lifestyle. If the testosterone level in the body increases due to hormonal changes, there is a possibility of acne eruption.

3. Genetic causes

If you have a family history of acne vulgaris and if it runs in the family, then you are more likely to have it. This kind of acne generally erupts during puberty and gets cured soon. It generally does not develop again in a lifetime, unless there is a history of acne eruptions during menopausal cycles.

4. Unhealthy food habits

An unhealthy diet is a cause for a lot of problems in your body and acne is none of them. Eating at the wrong times, eating oily and spicy food, and eating too much junk food can cause acne vulgaris. Also, you should try and avoid foods that have a lot of sugar content.

5. Uinhygienc conditions

There are chances that you are wearing your helmet strap strewn with your sweat again and again without washing it, wearing unwashed clothes or clothes wet with sweat for a long time can also cause acne on the back and chest. This kind of acne needs medical attention as it can get septic and cause damage to the skin. It is advisable to visit a doctor or a dermatologist in such cases.
